•3/4 hour to paint
•30 min to assemble
It would be wrong to say it’s always easy to measure and fit plantation shutters. However, if you follow Idealshutters instructions carefully, the process can be a relatively smooth one, even for the novice.
The number one requirement is accurate measurement, especially for a reveal fit. The second requirement is simply to have a good understanding of what you are doing, especially if you are going to paint and assemble as well.
Do some research, get a second person to check your measurements, and if you’re happy with what Idealshutters has to offer, you can place your order here.
We will help you thorough the process, you can use our country wide local agents (Jim's Building Maintenance) to measure and fit or even get you out of a fix!
Measuring & DIY for Plantation Shutters
Note: Unlike most other companies, Idealblinds asks you to base all measurements on the size of the opening - it is less likely you will make a mistake this way
You will use the measurement in Step 3 to help you decide how the shutter can be fitted. Choose a reveal fit for the neatest result. If there is little or no depth however, a Face fit may be required .

No sanding between coats required!
This is important to know for the DIY’er as, if you were to have bare wood to paint over, your job of completing the shutters would be more demanding and take a lot longer. Idealshutters however supplies components already primed with a thick layer of undercoat. It is so smooth there is no need to paint (normally) between coats. The three over coats you should apply can go straight over the top of each other without sanding in between! For further information - see the full instructions from Contact Us
